“My time here at the PRU has been fabulous. All the teachers are amazing well only the ones I know. We have a lot on fun in the PRU its not like any other school you get to have snacks, watch movies and colouring. I never used to like maths or reading but now I love it. I love it here”.

Parent of a Y6 pupil, December 2022
I just wanted to send an email to say "how amazing this term has been for my son. He has been a different child. We have had very few meltdowns at home which in itself is amazing for a child with a PDA profile, but he has been happy to go to school.
Mr Watts has been wonderful with him. My son trusts him which is a huge thing for him to do, he feels safe within his class and feels able to often tell Mr Watts what he is struggling with. He has been able to return to work after making a mistake which I never thought would happen.
My son has coped so well with the days Mr Watts was away due to the fact he had been prepared for it and he wanted to make Mr Watts proud of him. There were no meltdowns at home on those days (just a countdown to when Mr Watts would be returning). Please say thank you to Ms Malone and Chloe, for me, for making it possible for him to deal with the changes during those days.
He is also fond of Chloe and she has also been a great part of his year 6 journey. The teachers in the afternoon have taken on board all the things that Mr. Watts has put in place for him. It has been an all round team effort that is so much appreciated.
So this is a huge thank you to all the staff that have worked with my son this term and especially to Mr Watts for listening to both of us, for asking for advice on how to make things better for him and generally being an amazing teacher. We could not have asked for a better start to his final year at Littledown.
Hope you have a relaxing Christmas break".

The therapist conveyed how impressed she was with how consistent the school was with their approach to the children. She was also impressed that the child she was working with was able to recognise emotions, feels safe and name all the staff.

To everyone at Littledown and SEBDOS,
We just wanted to say "Thank You" for all of the help and support you have given us.
The difference you have made to our lives over the last three years is just incredible and we are so grateful. Seeing our son ready to go to his secondary school in September is amazing.
Parent of Y6 leaver, 2022
I just wanted to say "goodbye" to you all and thank you for all your help and support in the term I was here. People came to my classroom to help me find things, fill out forms and tables and showed that they noticed what i was doing in a good way. I was made to feel included, right from the start, and that's unique for a school. It's been a real pleasure.
Supply Teacher, January 2022

Another lovely comment from a parent on Monday morning: Our son doesn’t attend Littledown now but your morals and values have given him the best foundation for his journey through high school and life…you’re a unique school and we think you’re great. Thank you!

A recent comment from a parent of a pupil in year 5 on an annual review regarding the school environment – “Thank you for all you do! This isn’t just the adults working with him – this is everyone playing their part”
September 2020
It is with great pleasure that we are able to share this update regarding the progress one of our ex-pupils, who returned to mainstream education, is making. His parents emailed us to share just how well he’s doing.
In one part, the mother described how her son had been able to use his words to describe his emotions and behaviours and stated “These are steps that a few years ago we could only dream of and we are forever thankful for the time he had a Littledown and the support and nurture that the whole team provided him. We can only imagine that at times you think none of your interventions or strategies work when they continue to throw their little shoes at you, and at the time they may not, but please let our son be proof that they do, stick with them and whether it be weeks or years one day they will be able to take the tools you have given them and apply it to themselves, every day.”
She ended by saying “For everyone else looking in from the outside our son is just a ‘normal’, happy, sporty 11 year old but for us he is one of the strongest people we know and we praise him constantly for how hard he works beneath the surface every day and a huge proportion of that hard work comes from skills he learned from the wonderful team at Littledown.”
It’s always a pleasure to hear from ex-families, so if your child is leaving us this year, please don’t hesitate to stay in touch.

“Thank you for the best two years of my son’s Primary education. He has come on so far since starting in year 5 and that’s all down to all the hard work you have all put into him. I couldn’t have asked for a better team of people to help and support him and help him grow into the lovely mature boy he is now. There will never be enough ways to say thank you.”

“Can I just say what a really good afternoon, it was really nice seeing all the children’s achievements. Well done to all the staff you all do a fantastic job Thanks again!”
From a parent following the leavers assembly, July 2019
“We just wanted to have it recorded somewhere that our outreach worker will be sorely missed and that the progress she has achieved with M is remarkable and heart-warming!
We do understand that she could not stay with him indefinitely and that other pupils need her, we could not let her go without the credit she deserves being acknowledged. We know the first few months were very difficult as he was a troubled little boy and not engaged in education at all. We also know that he was quite unpleasant to her initially and resistant to her support. However, her patience and perseverance prevailed and my goodness what a different boy we have now! He absolutely runs into school, participates in as many extra curricula activities he can and is friendly, cooperative and thoroughly enjoying everything education has to offer.
Please then, do extend our thanks and appreciation she gave him exactly what he needed – she was firm but fair with affection and humour and he is now thriving.”

“Your nurture Learning mentor is absolutely amazing and I cannot praise her enough. Having her in school for the past two weeks has been a total godsend.”

“ My wife and myself were blown away by how nurturing everybody seemed and what a warm feeling the school gave us. It was reassuring to see so many children smiling and even when one pupil was not in a good place he was treated by a member of staff calmly and patiently which was just what I needed to see.”

“I had a lovely day at Littledown school. The staff were helpful, caring and patient.
At the end of the day points were given out for work and behaviour. The day went so quickly within the school. I felt the children were well supported with all their needs. ”

“I believe these trips are part of your pupil reward scheme – we really love being part of such a positive programme – and, very rarely, one of the pupils has been unable to attend due to an incident on the day”

“When we first found out that our son would be attending Littledown we were so upset and disappointed, but this has been the best thing that could of happened to him. I can not get over how far he has come and that is due to every member of staff there. You have helped and allowed my little boy to grow in to an amazing young man! I honestly think we as a family would not be where we are today without all your fantastic support and help. We were at a loss and you truly saved us. It is with a heavy heart that he leaves today and we will never forget you guys.”
Parent, Year 6 child
“Just a quick note to say thanks very much for letting me come in this morning. I really appreciated it and it was great to experience the two classes. Lots to think about! All the staff and children were lovely and welcoming.” Visiting Teaching Assistant
“I feel my son has progressed to a better level since leaving Mainstream and joining Littledown. He has less physical breakdowns at home. He has been communicating a lot better since September.”
Parent, Year 5 child
‘’A general thank you to all staff at Littledown as they all provide the children with a positive and happy environment to learn in”
Parent, Year 5 child
“Thank you for a great science afternoon of engineering it was lovely to take part and see what all the children came up with and their imaginations.
My son really enjoyed the afternoon and it really helped that we weren’t moving from room to room as he was much more settled.” – Parent, year 4 child
“I just wanted to say that I was at odds farm park with my two toddlers today and when we were in the soft play area there were a few children from your school there.
I was so impressed with how polite and well behaved they were, and very considerate of the smaller children. They had great patience when the little ones were taking a long time climbing and always made sure they were finished before having their go.
The staff were also great and keeping a close eye on them which I’m sure helped their behaviour.
It’s so refreshing seeing a group of school children acting so respectful in a soft play environment where they probably want to let loose and go mad! It’s hard for children of their age to understand they need to be careful around little ones but they were great.
That’s all I have to say, I just wanted to send praise as so often I have the complete opposite experience with school children there and thought your school children were above and beyond what was probably expected of them.” – Member of the public, 14th May 2018
“I really wanted to share how lovely it was to go into my son’s class for the science event afternoon. I could really see that the teacher and the staff are really trying to embrace the sensory issues of the children. It was amazing to have the calm music and the calm lights, it was a wonderful atmosphere and it really made a difference to the day. I could certainly see my son benfitted far more than on previous events. Thank you to all involved. – Parent of year 4 child
